Engr. Abiola Olowu an indigene of an ancient town of Ibeju Lekki was born on July
15th 1967. He Attended Ereko Methodist School, Araromi, Lagos State for his
primary education between 1972 to 1978 and attended St’ Gregory’s College,
Obalende Lagos between 1979 to 1985. He sat for General certificate of Education
in 1986.
He got admitted to the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State to study
electrical/electronic engineering between 1987 to 1989 where he obtained National
Diploma (OND). He later went to The Polytechnic, Ibadan between 1990 to 1992
and obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in electrical engineering (Power
options) for his further studies, he got admitted to the Federal University of
Technology, Akure for his post graduate Diploma and graduated with upper Division
in electrical engineering (Power Options).
Engr. Olowu had his national Youth Service corps with Tractor and Equipment’s
(Div. of UAC Nig. Ltd) in Enugu between 1992 and 1993.
Engr. Abiola Olowu joined the state civil service as a technical officer in 1994. He
sat for his professional exams & became a corporate member, Nigerian society of
engineers and a registered member, council for regulation of engineering in Nigeria
in 2004 and 2005 respectively. (COREN).
He had attended, several engineering management, conferences and seminars both
in Nigeria and abroad e.g. national council on power in Abuja and federation of
engineering institution of Asia and pacific (FEIAP) convention in Singapore.
He had served Lagos state for over 24yrs at various ministries, agencies and
parasatals such as Lagos state health service commission, ministry of works and
infrastructure, Director of rural electrification department in the defunct ministry of
rural development, Director of power in Lagos state electricity board and, ministry
of energy and mineral resources before he resigned in year 2018 to contest for federal
house of representatives, Ibeju Lekki federal constituency, Primaries twice and house
of assembly once between year 2018 – year 2022. He was special adviser to Mr.
Governor, Dr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu on commerce, industry and cooperatives
between August 2022 to May year 2023. He is a member of APC apex leader in Ibeju
Lekki, and he has contributed a lot for the growth of the party in his local government
and state as a whole.
He is the Okanlomo Atuluse of Ibeju land, the Otunba Badejoko of Imota Land,
Ikorodu and Asiwaju of IDIOROGBO land, Ibeju Lekki.
He is a vibrant politician and presently a consultant in electrical power engineering.
